ATCO's and Diabetes

Hey all

Can you tell me if diabetes precludes you from being able to get a class 1 medical for ATC?

I was diagnosed with type 2 about 10 years ago. I am able to keep my Hba1c around about 7 with diet and exercise. I kept my class 1 until I retired. Had to go to Gatwick and have an exercise ECG but they seemed more concerned about my cholesterol level. Each case is different but Gatwick were very helpful and positive. Hope this helps.

Hi ...Concur with GMST above. When you have the class one you can keep it....whether you can obtain a class one in the first instance with Diabetes I don't know. Call those chaps at Gatwick...they will put you on the right track!!
