Eurocontrol medical, eyes
Hello everyone, this is my first post, hope someone can help me with my odd question!
In a couple of months, I'm about to do the ATC medical examination for Eurocontrol. My problem is my eyesight. Before applying to Eurocontrol, I went to the ophthalmologist for a check. He made the required examinations accordning to the paper that I got from Eurocontrol, but since I had done an refraction examination at the optician working there, he transfered those results (+2.75 on both eyes).
Later, I went to a medical examination for the Swedish ATC education, and that ophthalmologist anesthetized and dilated my eyes ad got the result +4! The requirements for Eurocontrol are as far as I know +3 for.
So my question is, does anyone know what they count - the optical examination or the one with anesthesia?! And in case my refraction will be sligthly over +3, are they ready to accept that?

It has been said before: if you want to be certain, just contact their medical service. Seems to me all you need ask is if they test your eyes with or without anesthesia.
AND if I were you I'd get back to my eye doctor and have my eyesight properly tested this time.
How strictly the limits are applied might depend a bit on who does the examination, and how far over the limit your eyes are ...

Yeah, I did have a look at the document before. There it says up to +5 dioptres, but on the FAQ on Eurocontrol's homepage it says +3. I think it might be +3 when you do your first medical examination and once you're in you can have up to +5, but I'm not certain, I'm doing my best to investigate the matters, but no one seems to be sure. So if anyone has got any more information, please tell me!

I've had some problems with my eyes as wel when I had my medical for Eurocontrol...
I have -3.75 and -2.5, but that wasn't the problem at all. As far as I know they go for the -5.
My problem was that I appear to have a little blind spot in the corner of my eyes, but eventually it didn't turn out to be a problem. Gave me some scary moments though when I went to a specialist in Brussels to have a re-check.
By anesthesia, do you mean they actually sedate your eyes? The test for Eurocontrol definitely doesn't use that. They just test you with and without lenses/glasses.

I mean that they dilated my pupils and blocket my ciliar muscles. Then I couldn't accomodate. It was then they checked my refraction and I got + 4 instead of + 2.75, that I got on the "normal" optical refraction examination.
So they don't do that on the medical examination?
And Moira, what do you mean by HR?

I cant remember what the exact limits are at Eurocontrol, but I am -4.0 left eye and -3.50 right eye and had no problems with the eye exam when I joined and im still here now.
The eye exams really put the frighteners on me too, but in the end they weren't that bad.

Eurocontrol GCE/Rule of application n° 26 concerning physical and mental fitness requirements for the exercise of ATC duties (section 2/13 Ophthalmology and 14 Visual requirements) defines the requirements.
Ask them (nowadays: DHA/Info) for a copy

The tests should be done under "normal" circumstances.
And indeed EUC is more then happy to provide you with further information. Specially if you already past the FEAST test.

Eurocontrol. procedure
Hello there! I'm posting here for the first time and I hope someone will answer my question. Trust me its not too hard, I am just being interested in ATC, so I applied for Euro-control ATC school, with the start date of October 1st 2012.
I came to the point where Eurocontrol sent me "Certificate of visual performance". I done some testing at my local ophthalmologist and there was shown that I dont have a diopter so pointers of that are +/- 0.0
Although full medical examination will be done tomorrow at Medical Institute of Serbia, because there are some examinations I just can't do at the other facilities.
I was wondering whats the procedure after this?
