Apologies for the hold up. As a A380 driver I must explain.
1) On Taxi, depending on Wt, nose wheel scrubbing occurs above 7 to 10 knots on dry suface(worst on wet) on turns.
2) Engines takes 13 secs to spool up to part power before applying Take Off power.
3) Vapp is 137 knots at 390tons on approach. 6 miles is final slow down point from controlled app speed.

SloMoe, thanks for the info. Sounds like a nightmare. Luckily with our economy in decline it'll be a long time before anyone tries to operate one into the congested little field where I work.

I beg your pardon, Slo Moe. I chose that name as the A380 takes ages to do anything, checks etc. And thus Slo from slow motion and the Moe from the Simpsons. So sorry didnt know u existed. Will have to change.
SloMoe, if you want ATC to better understand the A380 perhaps a few fam flights might help us to provide the best possible service?
Can I suggest the approach units at your newest destinations would be a good place to start.
I'd be happy to accept if there were no other volunteers.

At LHR we had a very good exchange of information with SIA, so we were prepared for how you were operating. I believe something is being worked on to make the 160kts to 6DME a procedure so that you no longer have to ask for it.

What are the instructions for seperation that ATC uses for the A380. Fly left seat on the Boeing 777, and was behind one last week. Did not notice anything special, but we have no documentation on the A380, and if it requires any special attention from our side.

Mediums 8NM behind
Lights 10NM behind.
Prepare for minimum approach speeds well in advance.

And apologies for the stuck Transponder. Its irritating the hell out off the enroute ATCOs. Airbus are on it. BTW anyone know whats the largest a/c that can past the A380(wing span79.7m) at taxiway U hold point LHR RWY 27L? There is no visual of wing tips from the 380 cockpit. Thnks.

Hey SloMoe, wonder if you are one of the pilots that flew me to SYD on 5th March? I also heard Singapore 220 on 21st March I think during my flying training.

747-400 not too dissimilar then. Engines quicker to spool up to T/O power and approach speed can be minimum of 170kts for a heavy freighter (max ldg. wt. 302 tonnes). Taxi speeds also much the same, except in a straight line when up to 30 kts approved (note "approved"-apparently some times taken with the proverbial pinch of salt!).

Got to say, in the tower, most people I've spoken to are impressed with the
A380's take off performance and initial climb

2)point8six, yup the engines takes 13 secs to spool up to 30% before setting T/O thrust.
3) Yellow Snow, We derate on the T/O in LHR with power to spare on those 70,000lb thrust Engs. And if it were in my powers, be glad to have u aboard. Thanks for the U taxiway infor, like I said, no view of our wingtips.

Ah! finally got my sign in name changed. The 380 with max derate climbs at 2200ft/min in the second segment (gears up after t/off) and at Max t/off wt of 570 tons with full TOGA does about 2000ft/min too. Clean climb out speed at Max wt will be at 250 knts and 2500 ft/min but genarally 190 knts initial climg out speed at average wts of 380 tons. Now you know why my initial sign in was SloMoe.
