Hi all!!! This is my first post here and I'm glad that I've found this forum. I'm currently in the same situation as str8shooter, still waiting for the link to book my phone interview!!! Congrats to all of those who made it through and good luck everyone for the next round.

Hi "ATC intrain"...., no I haven't had my ph interview yet, I am waiting for the next contact from them to schedule it. I beleive that's how it works, anyway?
I've been in regular contact with a good friend, who is probably about 3/4 of the way through the course (in Melbourne, that is). I'm told there have been some issues with getting trainees through the sim sessions, and I beleive it has something to do with available instructors? Anyway, whatever the case, it seems the pace at which the current trainees are moving through the course, may have been slowed, resulting in new intakes being shifted back - that's the best I've got at this stage.
I'm a patient bloke....., so wait I will, to get a crack at something I'm really keen on. To coin an old African phrase: "Slowly slowly catch the monkey!"
Hey "missy"......, I did try that link, but couldn't get it to open. What was the jist of it......., I'm guessing, it wasn't positive?

I applied for en-route. There was no option for tower courses in the initial application. I still have not heard though ASA have said hopefully we will know in the next week-though they said that 2 weeks ago to. It is a lot of applications to sort through and it must take time to cull down the type of numbers they are talking about into 3 courses. Hopefully soon though-it would make for a great festive season.

A controller we were talking to on our testing day in Brisbane was telling us how they got emailed the details of the other people on their course beforehand so they were able to get together for a dinner beforehand, and most of them ended up sharing a house together, which makes a lot of sense. Assuming I get through, I hope to be able to do something similar, living with people in the same course would make it easy to help each other with study, etc, plus carpooling :P

Which day were you in Brisbane, I was day 1. I think it was the 18th. Let me know how you go and perhaps we can catch up for a beer in Brissie before the course kicks off.

woohoo!! i'm in, just got the phonecall. FYI was told there were only 16 spots available, 12 enroute and 4 tower, so congrats to all those who have made it and to those who didn't- don't give up, has taken me 4.5 years since first applying to get in, nearly didn't apply again after getting knocked back at final interview 2 years ago but can't wipe the smile off my face at the moment!!

Medical Exam
Finished the medical exams last week. I have to say, the trip to the ophthalmologist was the hardest. You have to bring someone who can drive you home after. They'll be doing a series of test. One actually made my vision blurry. One made my whole world pink. I couldn't see any other color but pink! Don't forget your sunglasses!
ECG, hearing test and urinalysis was done with a local DAME.
Blood tests with Dorevich.
Drug and Alcohol test will be next for me tomorrow.

So is that 12 per course? Just got my offer today too! Congrats to all those who have been successful thus far and comiserations to those who haven't.
If I've learned one thing in my time applying for different positions and such, it's that persistence is key. Stay motivated!

Hi all,
I was also offered a position last week. Medical booked in for next week.
From what i was told we would find out a confirmed starting date by the end of this week. Not holding my breath though.
Any one keen for a catch up from Brisbane before we head down south? I see Mac7643193 could possibly be and i know gumaaark is.
Have to say its going to be a cold winter.
Good luck to all

ATC trainee catch-up
Hi all,
Got the news yesterday, and am (hopefully) off to Melb for the Jan/Feb course.
Would be good for us Brisbane based trainees to get together before hand, if only to debrief on the application process and discuss logistics for the move to Melb.
Could anyone who is interested please send me a personal msg with their preference for date/time venue.
I think 'the Hamilton Hotel' or the 'coffee club' in Racecourse road would be about as central as we can get (some in North, some in South, some West of Brisbane)
Am suggesting 1730 on Thursday the 9th
and/or 1300 on Saturday the 11th.
Would like to welcome any current, Brisbane based ATC representatives if interested, in discussing 'what to expect' type questions...
so far the list of successful brisbane Candidates is:
Something ATC
croupsurfer
mac763193
johhn chase
Gumaaark
Fatty182*
will update if required...
hmmmm
3 shipping containers..
anyone have a heavy reticulated truck license?!!!
