Not sure for sure.

On the Flight Int job website the GAL email address is in the UAE.

A further link on the advertisment takes you to an email address for a company in the UK?

Vacancy requirements include:

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum 5 years experience.
  • Must have Military ATC qualification / Instructor qualification.
  • Must have Military certificate / FAA /JAA, and Military ATC hands on and supervisor experience.
(from GAL website)

So guess its a Military position then?

The word I heard is that they are looking for Civil guys to do the ATCO role for the military in the UAE. Supposed to be very very lucrative. Unfortunately no Approach rating for me. Maybe Foxy might be interested

Does GAL have a contract in the Uae or are they looking to get one?
If they have one where are the UAE's bases?

Angel UAE bases

bigskye

after googling UAE bases I came up with Al Dhafra which is west of AUH intl which apparently is their main fighter base (and from the satellite photo looks like it may have 2 runways but not sure about that) and wthe yanks also fly out of this place. I suspect that this is where they will need staff.

They apparently also have a base called Minhad (which caters mainly for helicopters) which is roughly south of the current DXB intl airport but very close to the new Dubai central (Maktoum intl) being built. It seems that this base will close sometime in the next few years, to make way for the new airport.

the UAE AF also fly out of Bateen (not sure where that is...maybe some of the UAE controllers can help us with that one) and also fly out of Al Ain and Sharjah.

One would assume that with the current world shortage of controllers and the fact that Serco is sucking that pool dry especially with the better packages now around, there are even fewer controllers left to staff this contract. The pool is most likely reduced even further, when one considers the amount of civil controllers with military experience or military controllers with civil experience in both TWR and APP is not that many, so the question then is will they pull out the wallet and match the current packages offered there.

unfortunately for me no MIL experience so I guess keep applying.

out

Also a new AB called Saffran within Al Dhafra's airspace, which is up and running but more ops on the way with F16s coming.

More news coming out once GAL has responded to the CVs

F16s That sounds like fun. The Mirages were bad enough.I thought Al Dhafra and Minhad were a bit secret to allow contract people in.

gal

ok chaps i have been following this one for about 4 months
the job is at auh int and the place of abode is a hangar next to gamco and royal flight.
i do have the name of the man in the hot seat mobile tele number.
and i have spoken to him a few times on the mobile dog and bone.
but he seems (to me just a hr man. he is a yokel)
and he dosnt know much at all or if he do's know any thing he isnt saying much at all.
the basic packages for ground eng is ok not too bad for the area.
it is to start off with ch47 chinnoks and then expanding later in 2008.
they are also looking for engineering bodies as well,
so it looks like it could be a big contract.
hope that helps
sorry its not al dhafra or minhad i was at both of them for a while 10/13 years ago.

Verci...

And unfortunately a reasonable % of them in storage due to lack of suitable qually'd pilots.

The Mirage legacy continues on strongly as they have been around for a good innings, and the new tweaked models a welcome addition.

It will be a good 5-8 years before the F16 will reach FOC (another shonky TLA ...Three Letter Acronym...for Full Operational Capability).

Question to the forum about Global Aerospace Logistics

1.Does anyone know if GAL has ever actually had any contracts in the MiddleEast or any other countries?
2. Is GAL maybe bidding on this contract ? Are they soliciting potential applicants in case that it is awarded the contract ? Then it would already have a pool of applicants ready and at hand to fulfill the contract.

GJ

Its a brand new locally based company, website only went up last month so no contracts to date. Backed by one of the local big boys here though so won't face the usual foreign contractor issues.

Their add in the Arabic newspaper they listed the government tenders they are bidding for with the tender numbers...unfortunately even after 10 years here I cannot read Arabic so not sure which ones specifically they were.

GAL - Are is a UAE company run by British/foreign managers they are contracted to do ATC/OPS at most of the UAE air force bases. The company have been up and running for at least three years. They employ both expats and locals and seem well paid and run, I know ATCO's and ATCA's who work for them.
