GAL ATS

Hi to all,

For those that know me (and thats not difficult to work out): I hope you are all doing well. For those that do not: I am the guy who set up the GAL ATS organisation from scratch, not the present management. If you want specific data I am happy to deliver it to avoid the usual Pprune rumour based information. There are many well qualified ATCOs and ATCAs whom I recruited and am proud to say they stood by me during the most difficult of times into transition from UAE control to GAL control. The company of GAL has also changed its 'brand' on the philosophy of the contract such that it is now a 'grand retirement home' as opposed to an organisation attempting to gain ICAO status (or similar) for the military activities. The present management is a hopeless reflection on the original principles; the only saving grace is the standard of the ATCOs and ATCAs. I will also justify the ATCAs 'abnormal' salary (as posted in other threads): In my opinion (at that time and currently) the ATCAs responsibility and duties as partners in the ATC task were similar and therefore I set the salary to reflect this responsibility. I may be alone in this principle but I would guess many organisation also believe it even if they do not apply it. GAL was not financially constrained as most organisations were as the contract was a basic 'cost plus 20%'; hence the salary scale could reflect the contribution as opposed to how little could be paid to individuals in order to gain the minimum performance. Thats it for now - questions through this thread only please.

GAL Employees

Hi, One thing I dd not point out was that all GAL employees sign a strict confidentiality agreement on the onset of their employment; so do not expect explicit answers to some of the obvious questions. Basically if you are an ATCO or ATCA with military experience then apply for the post, you do not need ICAO CAA/FAA civil licences to work in this environment. The task is difficult and the environment is awkward, but the remuneration reflects this. if you can knuckle under and do the job the task is rewarding.

GAL employees should not be drawn into this thread.

HI Mr Ron.

I'm working as a civilian ATC in the airport of Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle (over 1400 aircraft movements a day). I've got a tower and approach qualification there. I've got a european license for air traffic control. I would like to know if there are some recruiting going on in the UAE for ATCs. I'm highly interested into working there, I'd like to apply but GCAA website is not very clear to do so.
Tank you for any answers you'd bring up.

GCAA/GAL

Hi Ghee,

GCAA and GAL are not directly related. GCAA are the ACC for UAE and GAL are the company working with the UAE military ATC units. If you wish to apply for GAL employment then go to their website where vacancies are posted. You would not be qualified for GCAA work.

GAL info

Hi Mr Ron,

I have a couple questions regarding Global Aerospace Logistics, which are about the company and about a specific role. I understand you cannot indulge in details and also you may not know about the role in question however any information you provide me with will be greatly appreciated.

Is GAL a company which encourages personal development and career progression through various roles within their organisation or is it one which prefers to recruit for a specific role and would frown upon someone with ambition to move up through the ranks. I am ambitious and motivated and like to plan a career path, I am an experienced Pseudo Pilot and understand a recruiter looks to fill a position permanently however I would like to work somewhere which has scope to perhaps move into a role such as training manager after five years or so. Does GAL do much internal recruiting or would it be detrimental to my application to mention such a plan in the interview stages?

Do you know of the Pseudo Pilot roles and what sort of package they receive? I am interested in what contract length and salary to expect or if even an expat package would be offered. I have been told of ACTA salaries and am not sure if this may have unrealistically raised my expectations.

I am little concerned about your description of the current management, is it a company you would describe as having a bright future?

Please include any more thoughts which you think may be of interest to me or help me along the application process,

Many thanks

TDG
