CV for an ATC
Hello,
I have just finished with my ATC training (got the TWR rating) now I am in the process of validating my licence (OJT).
I need to make a CV, but I have no idea what and how should look alike (serves me after I get my licence to search for a job).
Can someone help me out, give me an example of how an ATC CV should look alike, a web page or even theirs (changed names and values)?
I would appreciate a lot. If someone wouldn't like to share it with the world, feel free to PM.
Thanks in advance.

Suggest you ask Redhill if they are recruiting ATCOs at the moment, as far as I understand they are the only unit in the UK where the ATCOs hold an AD(V) only rating. All other places are AD(I).
Unless anyone knows of any other ADV units?

Prepare a covering letter to accompany the CV, include a few brief details of your career to date, your ambition to work at the airport to which you are applying and why (to progress and improve upon your career goals), along with your abilities to make a positive contribution.
Find out the name of the ATS Manager of the airport to which you are applying and address the letter personally to them, keep it brief - never longer than one side of A4 and, unless your handwriting is appalling, write (don't type) the letter on good quality white paper using black ink.
The CV:
Personal Details
Full name, D.O.B. Nationality and address.
Telephone - mobile - email address.
Driving licence type.
Educational Details
Degree (type, grade and establishment)
A - levels -GCSEs etc - just include the subjects passed, not the grades.
Professional Qualifications
ATCO licence no. , ratings and type of CAA medical.
Any other aviation licences.
Any other professional qualifications.
Membership of professional bodies/societies.
Career details
Earliest employment first, details of posts held, responsibilities and reason for leaving.
Other information
Include achievments with various employers, ambitions, personal qualities - particularly those which will make a difference with whoever you are applying to, personal interests and what you have done outside work which makes you stand out from the rest.
Dont bother with references, they'll be asked for later, don't tell porkies - you'll be found out as aviation is a very small world and keep the CV to no more than 2 pages, typed on good quality paper.
Once you've done the above, go through it 3 or 4 times and eradicate every spelling mistake then get someone with experience to through it with you.
Have a look on the Flight International web site (jobs link) and send the CV to everyone who is advertising for Atco's regardless of their stated requirements, you'll probably get a few knock backs but equally you may get a positive response.
Additionally, write to every non NATS ATC Manager with the CV, if they haven't got an immediate opening, most will keep your details for the future.
Highlands and Islands airports Ltd - http://www.hial.co.uk will look at you favourably, although they'd probably offer you the north of nowhere initially, an job possibility and radar training at Inverness is not outwith the realms of possibility.
Then again, you could always apply to NATS where the Personnel dept will pay no heed at all to your achievements to date...
Good luck.

Thank you niknak, this is really great help.
After I finish my validation I will start to search for a job elsewhere (unless they ask me to stay) so just wanted to have a CV ready before hand.
Thanks again.
