"Request" - payback time!

Most "requests" seem to be one way streets -- impositions on ATC. I was delighted to hear a request yesterday from Brize to a Spitfire to make a short detour and a flyby at Brize, equally delighted to hear the request granted: hope she put on a good show!

I think requests from ATC to pilot are very common in the Mil. Usually requests for the aircraft to perform an instrument approach for controller training. When you move your people around every 18 months there's a lot of training to be done!
