Unless you've been a US citizen for 3 years - never.

The way the staffing situation is going, they will soon resort to taking illegals who climb over the border fence.

Cool

We have a HUGE supply of folks who want to be controllers, the FAA will never have to resort to looking for folks outside of the US... They would much rather just train thier own...

Under the FAA's new and "improved" new hire pay scale, you'd be much better off financialy as a plumber in Iowa than a controller in New York.

Much better shifts too.

True. Actually, plumbers DO make much more than your new FAA ATCer. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics says that, on average, dental assistants in the US make what a new controller makes. Great. That's how we attract the best talent all right.
