Stage 3 Preperation
JonathanB good choice, im sure you have made a the right one.
Those of you who have your stage 3 and you want to prepare some answers etc... NATS new careers site has a pdf of info on all stages. In stage 3 the sections listed are the sections they will ask various additional questions to, They want a situation for each one and will ask further in depth questions to clarify your scenario. The link is here http://atcocareers.co.uk/pdf/Hints-a...Three-Days.pdf
Good luck to all

I was in the same predicament as you...didn't know whether to choose Area or Aerodrome when offered the choice. Went for Area and was all ready to start in August. Had a phonecall last week taking me off the Area course putting me onto Aerodrome...to start in 2 weeks. Eeeek!
I wondered for ages if I'd made the right choice and in the end it was made for me. My view is that either way you'll end up controlling air traffic...isn't that what we applied for?!!
Anyway, better get off the computer and go and revise...time is running out...!!

Hehe, a night of agonising and a chat with friends and family, and I'm now on Aerodrome starting 19th October. Was offered 20th July, but can't really make that!
Feel much happier now as I always fancied going on to do approach control.

I have chosen Aerodrome too. JonathanB, from what I gather mate there is a good chance you could end up at one of the London airports so don't build your hopes up too high on doing any App. Fingers crossed for you though if that's what you want.

I had my stage 2 on the 2nd July and just found out I passed. Chuffed doesn't even touch it.
I came out thinking I had done terribly, so anyone else taking Stage 2 or who has just taken it, don't get too disheatened.

Application tracking
Hi guys,
I was wondering if anyone can tell me if this is normal...I sat stage 2 on the 28th of June, and I logged on to the NATS Online Recruitment System to track my application. Usually I can check the stage of my application at that moment, so I thought I will see something like "waiting for results of your computer tests" ... however, it still shows "Your computer tests/structured interview booking has been confirmed"
Is this normal? has this anything to do with the fact that they are changing the management system and that is why it does not appear update? anyone that is in the same situation (eg. waiting for the results of stage 2) can see the same?
ps. sorry for the mass of questions but the wait is too hard
Cheers,
Atisha

After you have taken a stage test, the Gtios system doesnt say anything new until you are invited to book the next stage. It does sound strange that people on 2/3 july have their results before you, but the same thing happened to me. I know they say to wait the 15 working days before you contact them but a 1 liner via the message centre im sure wont hurt. I found the message centre was the easiest way to contact them.
On the swap over to the new system it looks like, if you started on the GTIOS system then you will complete using that, new applicants will be on the new system.

Clayne,
From what I have heard, you have made the right decision, (or, had it made for you)!
Make the most of your leisure time now and 'chill-out'. The real work starts in 2 weeks, (allegedly). Enjoy!

Sorry to hear that
Do you have any idea/got feedback what went wrong? Will you try it again next year?

I think I was just unprepared for the tests.
Im thinking I will re-apply next year.
Now that I know what to expect Im pretty sure that I can pass next time.
Doesnt help that my current employers are trying to £$%& over me and my partner at the moment though.
All in all a very bad day.

Your current employers should give you all the motivation needed, and knowing what's required should be a great help for S2 next year.
Don't dwell on it, last year I didn't get through because I failed the OPQ, that was a kick in the teeth but I've dusted myself off and got back to it this year.
There's no point worrying about S2, you could have failed it by a mark, or by a mile, impossible to tell. Just be aware of it next year and do everything you can to ready yourself for it.
Best of luck.

Sorry to hear you didn't get through. Know its horrible when you get the news.
If its any consolation lots of people don't get through first time (myself included) and go on to be a controller. Just make sure you reapply as soon as you can.
Believe me, this job is worth the hassle you go through to get it. Ignore the negative postings on here about ATC and the job. I would say 99.9% love it and wouldn't swap it for anything
Good luck

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, don't think I'm even gonna make stage 1 this year thought I was prepared for the testing then just totally £$%"*& up the SHL tests. I did better last year in the classroom environment. Ah well always next year and another year to try and train myself to react better under pressure

CJayne,
Just got caught out on a few of the checking questions, as I clicked on some of them I realised it wasn't correct. On the maths ones I started poorly by trying to write the question down and work it out, once I realised that they weren't that taxing I did them in my head and found that quicker and easier. Really thought I had done poorly but have just received an email inviting me to stage 1 so maybe not as bad as I feared
