Just would like to say what a fantastic job Manch approach (135.0) and Director did today with the closure of 06R and subsequent closure of the airfield due reduced fire cover. It cannot have been easy for the guy on 121.35 having to break everyone off the approach and cater for diversion requests, it must have been extremely challenging 'juggling all the balls', but the professional and expeditious manner in which it was done was superb. Makes you realise what ATC in large parts of the world should aspire to. Also thought that LPL handled the numerous 'evacuees' with seemingless ease, however I doubt that behind the scenes you guys were working extremely hard. So thank you!

Do you know why the fire service had reduced cover? Could it have been due to sickness or vehicle u/s? Or was it because they were actually attending to an aircraft during this period?
