What is it ATC can't say anymore??
Coming through various Manchester sectors (133.8, 118.77 etc) yesterday, caught the end of the controller informing someone they couldn't say 'something' anymore.
Think it may have been referring to 'MCT' as 'The Emm See Tee', as opposed to 'Mike Charlie Tango'.
Is that the case that 'Emm See Tee', 'Bee Arr Eye', etc are no longer 'usable', and have to be pronounced phonetically? I appreciate the books most probably say that the phonetics should be used anyway.
Cheers

What can't ATC say anymore?
It could possibly have been reference to the frequencies, since 1 May 06 ATC are now required to pass all 6 digits of a frequency unless the last two digits are 00. For example, 120.52 should now be 120.525 and 122.95 has to be 122.950. But 120.2 can still be 120.2 and so on.
