Gatwick Radar - Pease Pottage

I am ATC wannabe/applicant and after reading a thread few weeks ago about Gatwick radars, there was a bit of discussion about a radar for Gatwick at Pease Pottage.

Can anyone tell me where the radar is at Pease Pottage? Only curious as does not show up on map - have checked multimap.

Its located to the north of the Pease Pottage-Colgate road, opposite Grouse Road. It is tucked away in the trees close to Cottesmore School.

But you may find that the radar that was the subject of discussion a while back was a similar test and development installation just a couple of hundred yards South of the airport. If it is this one its the thing just to the NE of the roundabout - here.

Sorry but I couldn't find the real Pease on multimap - as Fenders says, its well camouflaged!

Thanks for your replies - also a radar opposite the control tower next to the Southern Perimeter Road?

261A,

That would be Gatwick Approach / Terminal radar.

Cool

Okay, if we are going to be picky , it's an SPR Watchman 10cm PSR co-located with a Raytheon (formerly Cossor) 950 SMPE MSSR.

Radarspod. I don't actually think it is a Raytheon SSR.

Devil

It most definitely is a Raytheon SSR! I've seen it!

SMPE? I thought the raytheon Mode S radars were all HSA - or equiv. All of our (NATS) new radars are Raytheon - or are they? Have they got over the "blowing boards" problem?

Cool

The new one's are Raytheon European Mode S (EMS) - but Gatwick is not scheduled to be done for a couple of years. Don't know anything about blowing boards - try to avoid the old kit as best I can

Thanks. By Gatwick I assume that you mean the Gatwick TC approach radar? That's is due in 2008?
