A question keeps coming up every time I key the mike as I go slogging across the Atlantic with the best that technology had to offer in 1969.

Do the MET reports passed over HF serve any purpose in this day and age of ACARs data links?

Curious minds.....

Yes they do as you would be surprised at how many aircraft don't have ACARS.

I would also think its very useful for the GA delivery flights across the pond as well.
