Settle A Bet Amongst the Ignorant
Hi Chaps,
I seem to remember reading that Heathrow / Gatwick / Stansted and Luton radar control is now at the London ATCC and that there are no radar controllers on site at the airport. However I say that they are at West Drayton but my friend insists they are at Swanwick which I claim only has enroute traffic.
Can any kind soul tell me which of us is the more wrong?
(And yes I did try the search functions)

The Approach Radar controllers for Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton are at West Drayton and the London Area controllers are at the seaside. The Approach sectors expect to move to Swanwick next year (I think). The Heathrow controllers (of which I was one) moved to West Drayton about 12 years ago and the other airports followed suit (or were Gatwick there before us? Can't remember). There are no radar controllers at any of the above-mentioned airports.
