ATCO'S - 3 non operational extra attendances...
Just heard on the grape vine, that our colleagues at Scottish have struck a deal. My understanding is that so as managenent at Scottish can ulitise the 3 non-op days for truce, trm etc, our colleagues at Scottish will get 4 days in lieu to compensate for the inconvenience!! Can this be for real?

Yes, thats what the 3 days have been there for, but thats not the case at Scottish as per my initial post...
Apparently at Scottish they were told the 3 days would never be called upon. Now they are needed they get 4 days in lieu for the inconvenience...

didn't know about the deal, but giving back 3 days per year for 4 dil in total? doesn't sound that great to me. As for TRUCE don't get me started. it would appear(and i stand to be corrected) that the TRM course is being used in some fudged way instead of TRUCE. Don't agree with it and have already asked questions but no definitive answers yet
and smiles truce has been carried out on our days off for as long as i've been here

Maybe this will help; the 3 non-op days have always existed but have never been utilised, and you were told that they would never be called upon. Now that there is a need to use them, inorder for this to occur you get 4 days in lieu.
Down our way, those 3 non-op days have always been utilised and we have come to expect nothing less.
So why do you need 4 days in lieu as compensation to utilise the 3 non-op days?

not long now said it
"Alas nothing surprises me any more with regard to NATS differing treatment depending on unit"
not that i agree with the situation but it is a fact of life that different units get treated differently. As i said, i hadn't heard of the deal and will ask more when at work. But, if after consulting all the facts it turns out to be a good deal, then thanks to the union reps for their work in getting it. I would hope that the reaction from other units would be good on them get what you can, notlook what they got and we didn't

They are using one of our NRD days for TRM and another of our NRD days for training on the West End airspace changes, and the final one on emergency simulations.
They have always utilised our NRD days, I still can't see why you would get any time off in lieu for them as we accepted them as part of the WP and if you do why it would be 4 days for 3 days work .
It all sounds a bit cockeyed

16 out of 17 ... ?
On some watch rosters it would appear that ATCOs attending the TRM course will have to be in attendance at NATS behest for 16 days out of 17.
MMAANNSCCOMMAANNSOOO
Can someone explain how this is deemed SRATCOH compliant ?
What then is the point of having days off ?
In fact why not just abolish days off for all the other cycles in the year when you don't have this extra attendance ?
No official guidance has been given on whether this has actually been approved by Prospect - if so - what conditions are attached - 4 DIL is a rumour - no briefings - nothing.
Kept in the dark as usual until after the event ?
Would someone care to tell us what is actually happening ?

Haven't seen any confirmation of the agreement at Scottish, so can't comment. I know some of us owe NATS 3 days but those of us who do Nights all the time owe less than that, so maybe it lies in the detail.
My roster looks like this soon.... EELLNNSCCOEELLNN, all agreed with SRG and fuly SRATCOH compliant!
However as a bonus I don't owe NATS the 3rd extra day!!

Your exact comments were raised in CHIRPS in February 2005 and the response from management was that TRM was deemed to be so vital that the issues over Scratcoh were not important. SRG took this up, however as it had been agreed with Prospect, there was little that they could do.SRG reminded management that if people were sick due fatigue at the end of their cycle this would be understandable due to the long hours worked
