Nav aids ???

Sorry if this has been done a 100 times before but hear goes......

When reporting a "waypoint or nav aid" I am not quite sure 'what to call the aid' (e.g. Bovingdon) "G-ABCD routing via BNN or routing via Bovingdon.
Dont know if it makes a BIG difference but a little advice would be welcome....

Thanx

It's normally only 'B N N' if the pilot is a bit unsure of the name or can't pronounce Bovingdon. Otherwise Bovingdon is the usual. Unless of course you're American. When it's Bovington.

Reminds me of the time that after MC1 and MC6 became MC16 (somewhere between the 2) it was final changed to NAVPI. Our US chums couldn't handle this and for a long time were calling up "inbound nav papa one"!

Some classics from the past:-

USAF jock: "Over Dover now Sir, swinging left for Lousymouth"

RAF ATCO: "Can I give you a Handover on an Andover over Andover, Over ?"
