Self Improver Validation

I currently hold a student ADV/ADI license and am looking to validate in a tower as soon as possible. I have one possible offer to train for validation in my own time but there seems to be a sticking point over liability insurance as I would not be an employee of the airport concerned. It has been suggested that I take out my own insurance but I'm a bit hesitant about doing this.

Is there anyone out there who has been down this route recently who could offer a solution/advise.

Ask if you can be enrolled on the company's books as an employee but at a nominal wage of £1 per year, until such time as you fully qualify and validate.
This should ensure that you are covered by their insurance, and the employers costs are negligable.

I know that this has been done at several units up until 2004, and I can't see why it wouldn't work now.

Good luck.
