Richmond nine departure.
OK, this has been bugging me for awhile.
Often departures off 08R at YVR are cleared for a Richmond (Richmond being the suburb the airport is located on) nine departure instead of runway heading. Have always thought this would be a heading of 090 - hence Richmond 9. Please clarify.

It was my understanding that the number associated with a SID or STAR actually referres to the "version" of the procedure. When the SID was first designed, it would have been the Richmond 1, then if something was changed, it would have become the Richmond 2 etc.
Is that what you're asking?

And the suburb.....
You think you have the only Richmond with SID's...
That is Quote " Richmond being the suburb the airport is located on"
I gave you the chance to realize that it is not the only Richmond....and yes...now I have been on the sauce!
