not to use the word "contact" .........

I wish some of you ex-mil rotary guys had the same aversion to using "PAN" .........when referring to the Apron!

In the States, I was taught to respond as follows:

If traffic was spotted, "Traffic in sight 04 foxtrot"
If traffic was not, "looking for traffic" followed SHORTLY by either traffic in sight or negative traffic. No ambiguity and as previously mentioned, also lets the other guy know you either have him in sight or not (assuming he's on frequency).
