I remember a certain lady controller (now retired to Guernsey) at Heathrow a few years ago broadcasting an explanation to the 4 or so aircraft holding on the left for 27L as to why Judith, in her 125, was overtaking them "as she has a tight continental slot". They were all gentlemen and none of them replied! (or that's how the story was told to me)

Got my photograph on the front page of the Times once, does that count?
(In mid 1960s there was a press conference being given by the chairman of NCB prior to stepping in the NCB Dove (GARUM) to visit the site of the Aberfan disaster. Muggins was walking over behind him carrying a ladder, must have been off to polish the glideslope.)
Lon More, here before Pontius was a pilot or Mortus a Rigger

"as she has a tight continental slot".
My favourite JP memory is her standing up in the GMC position (only one in those days) and announcing to the assembled ADC staff "I've been screwed in the Victors"
always good fun working with her

Get this lot on my site
It strikes me that all of this reminiscing about ATC people should find its way onto my site.
It's not directly to do with reporting points, but it would be as good a place as any to get the history recorded while the old duffers can still remember it!!
Thoughts?
Nick
