ATCO Retirement Schemes
I'm looking for information about ATC retirement benefits around the world.
I'm a retired U.S. controller. I "got out" at age 50 with 25 years of service. I retired at 50% of my "high three", which left me with pretty close to exactly half what I made as a controller. Mine was a CSR retirement - the other U.S. option is called FERS. For the time being, the mandatory retirement age is 56, but that is subject to change as the "PATCO Bubble" comes to retire over the next few years.
I had a colleague from Russia in the mid-90s. He said their retirement benefit book was as large as a Moscow telephone book, but on page 666 it said, "benefits will be paid only if funds are available." He worked into his 70s.
A friend from St. Maarten is coming eligable to retire soon - he's still in his 40s - but he can't collect until he's 60 or so, so he'll probably keep working.
Please advise about ATC retirement in your country. I'm particularly interested in plans in emerging nations. Any links would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you get similar what we do... ours is measured in 59ths (or is it 58ths - someone pse confirm) of our highest salary times the number of years service. A guy with 40 years service therefore gets somewhat over half his top salary.
I heard the Spanish guys do remarkably well - 100% of their last salry to age 75 (can someone pse confirm to stop my recuring nightmares?)
As an ex-Heathrow controller with 31 years service who retired aged 58 I get £2,100 per month..

Maastricht has Early Termination of Service at 55 or after 35 years whichever is the earlier.
Pension is 2/35% per year worked (Max. therefore 70%) of basic salary.
In the case of those leaving before 55 there is a sort of transitional payment where the payment gradually tapers down to the 70%.
Nothing in place for FDAs (ATCAs) yet.

Conditions for "early go" in Spain are 52 years old with 30 years on duty, or 55 having worked a minumum of 17 years on shifts. It is not compulsory to leave, as one may continue on frequency till 65 passing medicals every 6 months.
