Cool

What do you mean DIRECT entrants? I see from your profile that you are an ATCO in Eire.

If you meant getting a UK CAA licence, then as an experienced chap you would probably have to do an APC - Assessment of Prior Competence - similar to the ex RAF peeps.

Successful completion means that you only do half of the Tower rating (the second bit - 3 months) and then the Approach Rating (9 and a half weeks).

If this is not what you mean then Disregard - I am blowing from my @rse again!

Either way - come on in, the waters lovely!

Well, NATS' College of Air Traffic Control in Bournemouth. Not sure of the number.

The person to speak to is a lady called Ruth Webb. I'll try and find her number/e-mail.

Beamwidth,

We advertised in Flight International 18-24 Jan 2000 edition for direct entry ATCOs specifically to come to Aberdeen.

The ad basically asks for experienced Aerodrome, Approach and Approach Radar qualified ATCOs giving salary in the range £31-£43000 including shift pay.

Although it was a couple of months ago, it will still be worth a try as I understand the level of interest at the time was very low, resulting in a very round number of appointments being made.

CVs should have been sent to:
Gail Murphy,
Personnel Airports,
First Floor,
Control Tower Building,
Heathrow Airport,
Middlesex,
TW6 1JJ.

or phone 020 8745 3722

Hope that helps.

Visual Approach,
YEP! I can't leave till 2001, for contractual reasons (signed contract for cash bonus 1996, for 5 years) but am looking now and NZ (Sth Island)or UK on top of my list. Quite a few of your Brethren, east of the Tasman, sent me some info a few weeks ago, all Nth Islanders. U R Number One has been very helpful in the UK, good chap. Have you got some info for me?

P.S. reason I picked UK & NZ - beautiful scenery, nice people, known ATC shortages, play Rugby Union & Cricket, make good ales.
