ATC Movie

Pushing Tin

Has anyone seen this movie which is about 2 rival ATC guys at NY tracon ? I saw it and ATC part is really fascinating
but of course the rest of the story is forgetable. ( Look out for this hot babe who plays billy bob thornton's wife)

It has good special effects but I think radar displays are not the actual ones used at tracons. Or are they ?

I think the movie is only released in US and Canada right now. Any one interested in ATC should see it.

I thought Lloyd Bridges portrayal in "Flying High" was pretty accurate

Is that the one with Keifer Sutherland (spelling?) playing a burnt out controller who is called in to help, blah blah, and does the radio hero thing?

If so, it's on video in Oz. The controllers chuck in a few old radio jokes that anybody involved in aviation will recognise.

Two stars - pay $4 as a weekly, and watch it if you are bored during the week, but not $6 overnight, wasting a weekend night on it .

try "747" - a fairly recent "straight-to-video" production which deals with the aftermath of a mid-air. almost a "docu-drama" as it deals with issues such as overloading and outdated equipmentwhich we are all too familiar with.

The best ATC controlling (PAR) was done in Anchorage with Charlton Heston at the controls of a "skyjacked" 707.
