Unhappy Squaking 7600

Hello again.

Right this will be the last question for a while i promice,

I know that when an aircraft loses radio when est on the ILS it sqws 7600 and follows the airports set proc. BUT what happens if the radio faluire happens in the cruise?
1. Does the aircraft continue as filed, using TCAS and makes his own APP to the airfield hopeing ATC is keeping the runway clear.
2. Or does he descend to the nearest suitable airfield and land there?

Thanks a lot

Me

Cra5h,

For all you ever wanted to know but were afraid to ask......try the UK Aeronautical Integrated Package (AIP), commonly called the 'Air Pilot'.

It's free online.

In answer to the RT Failure question go to Para 3 here:

http://www.ais.org.uk/uk_aip/pdf/enr/2010103.pdf

For the whole shooting match, try this link. In addition to UK NOTAMs, you will also find links to the whole AIP and other publications:

http://www.ais.org.uk/

AIP and ANO are helpful for answers to these and many other questions.

But for me just brings back bad memories from the college of knowledge.
