Nice to see that some ATC students get treated well by their employer.

Over here, the Irish Aviation Authority pay the princely sum of just £8,000 pa. to their student controllers. Thats translates to around £6,000 Sterling. No allowances, travel, accomodation .. nothing.

And that includes the period spent on OJT once the student leaves the training college.

Thumbs down

Here in NZ, the student pays $NZ12,000 for the priviledge of being trained. No allowances, no accomodation, no transport, (oh....but Airways Corp will pay for your medical!!), and no guarantee of a job if/when you qualify!

Cool eh!

Ah yes chaps...but in 6 or 7 years time, when you have lots of experience under your belt, and Hong Kong CAD have discovered that they really shouldn't have rid themselves of all their expatriate controllers and need to recruit again, you will be able to apply for a job there and earn the princely sum of $HK 80,000 (thats about 7000 quid)per month (plus increases between now and then) + accom allowance.....all you will have to do is put up with living in Hong Kong...and forget everything you ever learnt about air traffic control.
