Question Alone on position??

Hi folks!

As we are constantly short of staff I would like to know if there are any other ACCs where control sectors are manned by a single person?

So far we have mostly prevented working alone, but I don`t know for how long our supervisors can explain that to the DFS-management.

Although not area, my mates who worked at Luton tell me that whenever a radar controller went sick for a night duty, the sole remaining had to work all night from 22-07, not a break in sight. Hardly a quiet airport at night!

Too many commercial pressures to allow 2 hours on - 30 min off!

When working in Tvl ACC at night, we had a speaker in the WC so we could hear if someone called while we were on a comfort stop. Better now in the Tower, can transfer the A/G to a handset in the comfort area for when nature calls.

Mcfly, at Scottish we put the sectors together (traffic permitting) late evening/ overnight and one person does the high level position and one does the low level position on the other side of the ops room.
