Starting an AFIS
Hi,
I am trying to find out how you go about starting an aerodrome FLight INformation Service,
Assuming you have the required FISO licence, how do you go about getting it set up at an aerodrome?
I thought in order to train as a FISO at an airport in order to be validated you had to work under the instruction of a current validated FISO, but how is this possible on a new station?
Does anyone know, from the time you approach the CAA and request to set up the service til you get it up and running - how long it takes??
Cheers

Hi ATCO wannabe, I think you would be intrested in CAP 427, "The Flight Information Service and the FISO Licence", also if your serious, CAP's 410 pt A & P are also all to do with the FISO Licence, all available from Westward Documedia or whatever they calling them selfs at the moment. CAP 427 has got the answers to all your questions regarding the FISO Licence, including the FISO unit approval system. If you want to give me your e-mail address I can list the unit approval process.
Cheers
