Cool Emergency Training Videos ?

Help, I've got my annual "incompetancy" check soon, and as part of it I should have done 4hrs emergency training. Half an hour of which apparently can include watching some sort of emergency training video. In my collection I have nothing that remoteley resembles this. Anybody have any clues of what may be appropriate ?

I'm guessing here but anything which frightens the public, the Near miss documentary, or the bloody dreadful "Air Crash" or whatever it's called. Failing that try an episode of Black Box.

Apparently the "Some mothers do 'ave 'em" where Frank learns to fly doesn't count!

Thumbs up

RD, your unit training officer should be able to help you with a video or two. I think Jeppesens publish 2 called VFR/IFR emergencies, but they cost a bit.

What would be nice would be if units felt free to share their internal videos from actual emergencies. However, the ever present threat of litigation seems set to ensure they remain tightly controlled.

You can also count some time on liaison visits towards your TRUCE totals (if you can get the time off and/or mileage allowance!

ROGER It is the responsibility of your unit to provide you with such videos, and the facilities to watch them in.
If they cannot be arsed to do so, then it's not your problem, I assume that SRG do your competency check and not local LEOs so let them know of the shortcomings .
I put down on my form that I'd watched Aces High, (which we do have in amongst the video collection), unortunately the LEO didnt see the funny side

If you are at a NATS unit there should be a few vids that were made in conjunction with BA. They are worthwhile watching as they give a very good indication of what the pilot is going through when it all goes wrong. If you are not NATS, I don't know where or if they are available for you to watch.

Spoonbill, try it next year with any of the Airplane series, see if that gets through!!!
