Post Christmas Day

Back in the 80s the flying club I was with had a Christmas Day fly-in with a difference. We (rather they as I didn't go) flew in to LHR. I think the theory was that as someone was on duty, they may as well let some nervous stammering fool to try his hand at shooting the ILS.

Now, to the nub of this post. Does this still go on?
Does it have to be a recognised flying club?
could the PPRuNe Private Pilots hold a Christmas day fly-in at Heathrow?

New Bloke,

I think the BAA put the mockers on this sort of thing a little while ago.

Shame.....

WF.

p.s. last Christmas Day I think there were over 400 movements, so we're still fairly gainfully employed
