Angry EGGW ATC

Possible delays to the contracting out of ATC by Luton to NATS. Rumour has it that any delays are caused by disputes between area and airports within the NATS empire?

Comments please NATS folk?

EGGW caught in the middle again!

I believe Luton are getting new radar displays and it was here that SRG likley used their influence. SRG are unlikely to involved in the choice of Provider, i.e. NATS. Poor Luton don't seem to know if they are coming or going lately.

If Luton ATC is to be transferred to NATS by February 2001, what is the point in the Luton Management spending lots of money on new radar displays etc. The earliest they can install the new equipment in December 2000 - why do it. Who runs Luton anyway - easyJet I here who are about to leave for Stansted.

You're no expert if you think it takes 14 months to install new displays! :-)

I'm not an engineer but knowing the problems that could arise with installing the new kit, I'd be surprised if it's there much before the end of next year - time will tell who is right.

Question

If the installation of the 'temporary' displays did take longer than expected it would be interesting to see if SRG felt it necessary to flex it's muscles ie. Flow restrictions at busy times?

I hear morale at Luton is high with the prospect of NATS taking over - surely this can't be so.

How many jobs will remain........especially the present Managers.

Shame morale ain't so high within NATS then....... maybe Lutons will lower after the take over to bring them into line with the rest of their new company.

Thumbs down

I would think that Luton's current managers will be offered jobs with NATS, if they want them. Not sure about the Training Manager though! ;-)
