Question vacancis vacancies vacancies

Surely Bristol and Sheffield aren't the only places to have vacancies...?

Are there any other places that have any openings and if so, are they only for radar ATCOs?

If you've got ADC and APP and fancy Scotland try HIAL

What makes you think Bristol actually have a vacancy

The trouble isn't vacancies - everywhere is short. The problem is places risking the funding to train people. It's too uncertain and too expensive, and airfields want to make sure they've got people of the right calibre before they spend the dosh.

On my APP last year 5 people passed out of 9, my APR 4 out of 6 - and 2 of those were second attempts. That's a lot of someone's training budget down the tubes

A few non-NATS units will take you if you are ADC/APP only, but at £18k per cousre, you'd have to interview very well. Although, in saying that,I believe that Belfast City have taken on two ex-NATS ADC only people and are planning to train them up, so it can happen. Iguess it just depends on who applies for a particular job.

Hey Chilli, were Bristol serious with that last ad? Does "the right calibre" = all the ratings, or simply if the face fits?

SOUP!

No idea - I work at the other Bristol airfield. Let's just say I've heard rumours based on a revision of number of staff required

Chilli. .I never understood why units bother to advertise and interview if they have no intention of recruiting. I've seen it done before, and it backfired on the unit cos next time round when they were desperate, they couldn't even coax previous applicant's to re-apply. It would p*** me off big time if someone did that to me.. .Still, to go back to the original question, if Bristol do appoint someone, then it's a case of musical chairs again. Oh joy, I might even be tempted myself this year (that's if someone can afford my meagre pittance in these hard times!)

Lovely soup!

There are a number of units across the country who are short of, or would like to recruit controllers to provide a better service. However the bean counters would appear to have more of a say in ATC provision than they ought to .

But, with a retirement bulge coming, something/someone is going to have to budge, and then they'll be fighting with each other to get us.

What we need is for some of them to be forward thinking and realise this now and take the plunge. And then some of us might be able to jump on that merry go round that Tiny mentioned.
