Post 2 questions

Hiya,

Thanks for your time in answering these.

1) I am currently trying to arrange visits to several ATC facilities, and have been given phone numbers and addresses to write to. Which is the better way of communication to stand more of a chance of arranging the visit?

2) Does anyone have a list of what the various codes mean which appear after the caircraft type on a flightplan?

EG -B744/H-SXWIY/C

I assume this means Boeing 747-400/weight catagory is HEAVY then I dont understand/mode C transponder?

Thanks

Talking

Writing or phoning defintely the best way of visiting (need to complete security proformas prior to your visit in most cases), or knowing somebody at a given unit!

As per the FPL Q?......

Field 9 of the Flight Plan:

B744 = Aircraft Type (Boeing 747-400)

H = Heavy

Field 10 of the Flight Plan:

S = standard COM/NAV/Approach Aid equipment for the route to be flown is caried and serviceable (Standard equipment is VHF RT, ADF, VOR ILS)

X = MNPS Approved (minimum nav performance specifications)

W = RVSM approved (Reduced Vertical Seperation Minima)

I = Inertial Navigation

Y = Radio with 8.33 KHz spacing

C = Transponder Mode A 4096 codes and mode Charlie

......I think!!!

Blimey B-L, you do all that Field 10 stuff from memory? If I had a smiley with a hat, it would be taking it off to you! <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
