Post Good Luck to you all

I was not sure whether to put this on the ATC forum or the NATS one so decided to put it on both.

. .Thinking back to the day that Southern Radar (the R side) moved across to LATCC to join with the D side to become Mediator and the initial chaos that ensued, I have nothing but sympathy for the Area side as they start at NERC tomorrow.

. .I have read and listened to the doubts and in some cases the fears that have been raised concerning the training, or lack of it and am left wondering at the apparent complete lack of management that permits operational controllers to be placed in such a situation, then I think of the names that I read in Airway, or whatever it is called now days, and I think back to the people associated with those names and I wonder no more. Almost without exception they are the ones who could not hand in their headsets quickly enough to get away from operational duties and scurry to the safety of an office, in many cases approaching 30 years ago.

. .I am sure what will happen tomorrow is that operational controllers being what they are will make the system work to the best of their abilities and gradually find the best and safest way to do so.

. .What I really wanted to say was Good Luck to all you chaps and chapesses tomorrow and watch your backs because nobody else, apart from your mates will be doing so; I have no doubt that your senior management will be too busy congratulating themselves and swigging the champers!!

. .Thinks, shall I cancel my Buzz flight and take the ferry instead.........only joking............Good Luck again.

errr.. NO.

The lights have been turned down for that very reason.

It's still very impressive though and a much, much better environment than LATCC (AC)

Didn't know they were employing lady guys at NERC...

...Has there been a recruitment drive in the Far East?

Knew they were short of ATCOs, but this is going too far.
