Post channel 11 @ LHR

Could a LHR ATCO please explain why ground movements(tugs etc)are controlled on channel 11 after 23.00hrs (ish) and not on the usual daytime frequency.
Thanks.

Simply because on a night shift we use one radio frequency 118.5 and channel 11 is crosscoupled with 118.5 (or 118.7 depending on 27L being used for arr). The other channels are linked in with 121.9 & 121.7 which are used by ground 1 & 2 during the day.
