Post Know what your colleague wants from you!

I`d like to suggest that in this thread, anyone can discuss traffic presentation, procedures etc between them and another unit/agency without it turning into a fight or a slanging match. Sensible talk only please, if there`s something you want to discuss with the `next guy`, please type it here and hopefully you`ll get a response! In the light of September 11th, liason visits could be stopped so let`s just talk here - after all, we`re all in the same job and shouldn`t we all be getting on together and working professionally as one big team instead of a `them and us` relationship? Just one last point, you can also praise someone here if they`ve helped you out of a sticky situation, we don`t thank people enough for what they do so let`s start seeing if we can build a better relationship between us all as we work together! Right, who`s gonna be first.............?

Doesn't it say a lot about the organisation
you work for? Why on earth do you think you
need to use this unofficial forum to have nice chats and say thank you for sharing that with me. Surely there are existing and official lines of communication for this available to you. This site is important for people to use to discuss the issues they are concerned about but do not feel free to discuss openly for fear of being accused of being off mesage. Have a coffee morning.

torpids, I think you missed the point.

OK, starters for 10. As a military man I accept that there are differences in phraseology etc. Furthermore, I fully understand civilian trepidation behind providing radar services outside CAS. However, what often confuses me is the lack of standardisation between shifts or even individual controllers on the same shift at some of the 'London' airfields. My question is: What standardisation processes are in force once a controller gets his/her validation? I'm not saying the military are perfect (far from it). However, I know that our controllers are regularly (at least every 6 months) formally checked to ensure defined procedures are followed.

PS Anyone wanting to discuss issues particular to EGWU is most welcome to call.

There are occasions when TC are crap, there are times when AC are crap, and every other unit in the world will no doubt fall into this 'crapness' category from time to time. However, 99.9% of the time, you survive, and mainly due to the acceptance (willingly or not) of the next controller.

I definately need to say a BIG thankyou to all in TC that have certainly pulled me out from going under many a time. 'Can I give you this crap-getting-worse situation?', normally either yes, or do this and then yes. I like the times when you know its not perfect, but you tried your best, and nothing is said by either side. You give some, you take some, you may sit there and say 'what the hell are *** doing with that one' or whatever, but its the same both ways. We are all good at our jobs, all doing similar and also unique things, just be proud that at the end of the day everything has landed, how it got there? By us all working together.

Certainly TT, and some of us are starting to get a group together to do Maastricht again. Would love the controllers there to come out in the evening and show us some 'sights'!!
However, not too sure on the availability of visits at the moment with the security measures currently in place, anyone else know???

We are still allowed Professional visits over here (That is if I worked in Maastricht which I can neither confirm or deny ) but no social/private visits. I think we could stretch to LATCC being Professional .

I would love to come and visit, I think there is a Toys r' Us near the centre there isnt there? Or is that the centre?

I thought the following picture nicely encapsulates "Traffic Traffic" and all of his posts:

TT,

I'll happily show you round the playpen any time you want, just name the day.

In the meantime, don't you think you're becoming just a little bit boring?

Knocking NATS controllers or LATCC on your first or second post was mildly amusing, but still consistently hammering away on your 57th?

In response

1) When I am next on shift I shall approach my fam-giver-outerer and look forward to saying hello

2) It is rather boring for me but your colleagues seem to get rather excited about it!

3) Sorry, its like an addiction, and besides you must have been really bored to have read all 57(+1) posts of mine!

Come on guys, I thought this was a good thread to start with...will you stop slagging each other off?

I for one, would like the Bombay controllers to start using the Mach Number Technique..then we wouldn't have to drop all manners of aircraft from the levels that we were all happy with to something that piston aircraft prefer!!
secondly, I'd like all the guys in UAE and Bahrain, to come to Muscat to see just what it is we are trying to do here
just remember guys, you NEED 5 miles...you WANT 10 minutes....
rant over...

I thought the Grape vine was the official line of communication. It seems to be the fastest sometimes.

OK I'll bite. You know why we require the things we do, DD, because we hand off to a procedural sector whilst simultanously trying to sequence the crap we get from you ( frequently heard cry "stop helping me Muscat" ).
