Phantom Flights over Putney: BBC London
No, not the F4 variety, but those pesky early morning Heathrow inbound Jumbos (again)! BBC TV London today is carrying a news item showing one lady resident logging early morning "overflights" of her house in Putney. The allegation is that the "flight paths" have been altered, which has been denied. As shown on the telly, her house is approx. one mile south of the extended centreline for 27L. (Cut to shot of 747 passing, which when shot zoomed out, seemed to be passing, umm, approx. one mile to north!) The local M.P. is now involved. See also BBC website: www.BBC.co.uk/London

The BBC web site quoted doesn't work... but it just sounds like the sort of ultra-accurate reporting of aviation matters which we've all gotten used to over the years.... unless some swine has cranked the runways round a few degrees without us noticing...??

when a pair F16s called up Easterns initial contact freq for IFR pick up out of low level and spotted the ident feature west of LHR by a few miles. Offset radar by 80 miles ....I don't remember any paperwork on that one!.
