Liverpool ATC
Yet again I see Liverpool advertising for yet more controllers.
Last I heard was that the top of the pay scale was less than £42k and they now want you to provide a radar service to Robin Hood Airport aswel.
Not interested myself but I was wondering if the pay and conditions have changed since they last advertised. Thay now want you to do more work and pay one of the worst salaries in the country for a radar ATCO.
Anyone interested?

If the management there aren't careful the place will revert to the days of IAL and SERCO where eventually they could only recruit partly rated/valid staff who would use it as a stepping stone for better things. Thus having a great turnover of staff and a never ending training commitment. IAL and SERCO had the advantage of posting people in from other units when they were short.
Looking at other threads there could be up to 4 leave this year.

It appears that new ATCOs will be providing radar for Robin Hood airport, current staff have the option. Wonder what would happen if applicants would only accept the appointment if they too had the option? Wonder if Peel pay any relocation expenses?

I agree, sounds like it could be fairly difficult to roster for.
Whats the incentive of volunteering for an extra radar validation for one of the lowest Radar ATCO wages in the country? I would imagine most of the staff would say no.

Have to say, I'm not too impressed with the HR dept of Peel. As a current ATCO, I kinda hoped I would get some form of response from them.
Up until now, have heard nothing.
Does anyone know what's going on there?!
Hey Ho..... s'pose that's life... but It does not give a good impression to a prospective employee.

If you're that keen to work for Peel
.... am not that 'keen', ... was just responding to their advert. I just thought units were short staffed at the moment and would make a little more effort, that's all. As you say ...... 'say's it all really' !

Just a Few.
I understand that Peel appointed a SATCO at Robin Hood, and so far the number of atco's appointed is.................. 0.
I don't know how many, if any, atco's who met the requirements of the ad', applied, but Peel have obviously been trawling through someones little black book, cos' I know several people who had unsolicited calls fom the HR department asking if they'd be interested in working there.
Peel have a history of not paying relocation expenses unless they absolutely have to, it appears in the case of Robin Hood that they're in no position to argue the toss.

Obviously morale there is low. Last time I was there, the approach controller was one of the rudest unhelpful characters I have ever come across. I'm sure he was not typical because the tower controller came across as a much more pleasant guy.

HiSpeedTape - I take it you're talking about Liverpool?
WHEN where you last there?
In what capacity?
There's always a rude & unhelpful character at an ATC unit.

There others are somewhere in-between.

Can't follow your logic, HispeedTape. If the approach ATCO was unhelpful, the morale was low. Yet the tower guy was more helpful; therefore, morale improved the higher you went. Maybe Peel need a taller controller tower!
