Wasps
Does anyone know why wasps seem to spend all their time trying to get into the VCR? Because when they're in, they spend all their time trying to get out again.
Its been a long day.

Top Tip:
1. Catch a wasp.
2. Stick the poor sod in a Lamson Tube (if anybody still has them that is).
3. Send it up to the VCR.
4. Wait for cries of delight to echo down the stairs.
PS - Not recommended during Trappers annual visits though

The EGCC VCR had a whole new species of winged beetle / crawly thing discovered in it's roof vents last year much to the chagrin of those beneath the hatching zone.

Never tried it with a wasp, but a few desert rats test drove the lamson tube at Bateen (the old Abu Dhabi airport). It worked best when you wrapped a bit of A4 around the tube so the tower ATCO couldn't see what was inside!
PS. For all the animal lovers out there, as far as I am aware no desert rats were permanently harmed in transit.

Ah Lamson tubes!!!
Used to fill them with smoke, when you were allowed to smoke that is, or for more fun water, so the reciepient would often end up with wet trousers for that authentic 'strategic stain'.
Oh happy childlike days.........

Watching the wasps, flys, birds and spiders in our DVD correction VCR makes a boring day go fast.... until the bird decides it is **** scared and relives itself on your back!!! We have got one spider at the moment (oddly named Bruce for some odd reason by a female ATCO!) which is so big that it will even attempt to attack a finger should one be brave enough to poke at it! It even eats crisps but only Walkers!! The dead flys which I manage to get to before Bruce does, make pretty patterns on the windows when swatted but the SATCO isn't normally very impressed!

Here in Canadialand, everything's bigger of course and that includes the beasties and crawlies. Seriously, something got squished on my car the other day and you couldn't tell the make anymore! Another fly, rather than squishing, broke in two on contact with the windesceen.
The bison are a tad smaller than I expected, but that's no bad thing when they get within 3 feet of one's new Jaguar...
Best of all for bug squishing, Canadian Tire (yes, that's how they spell it) sells bug zappers shaped like tennis rackets. You get a satisfying crack or fizzle depending on which bug you zap. That and a six-pack are quality entertainment!
To all at EGPH, missing you lots (well, most of you) and feel free to visit! Temperature today maxed out at 27 degrees, so a bit chillier than usual....

At EGCB the wasp now seems to have gone to be replaced by one of the HUGEST moths you have ever met! It's been sat in the same place on the roof for 3 days - does anyone think it could be dead?

The fly guns are brilliant!
It's amazing how a simple construction can keep atco's occupied for hours on end, or it least they did, until the SATCO banned them after a perfectly aimed shot to a fly on the floor got him square on in the nuts........

Cheers for the insect control responses! With regard to the EGCB ATC moth, it seems to have gone now. Also, the wasps are visiting less frequently. Maybe they read this post and didnt like the reply about fly guns! (Especially as Squadgy will probably buy one and bring it in later!) Quality
