Red Dragon,
The 250,000 Dhs was an accumulation of the 170,000 for salary, 6000 for fuel allowance, and 75,000 for housing. As per Bob is your uncle's post.
ANSA, thanks for the clarification. I see that if you were living there that would be fine, but to move back home (or elsewhere for that matter) would be a little difficult.
As far as the Emirate of Dubai being completely backed by the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, I thought that this was the case, but I didn't want to make that post unless I was 100% positive on that. It will be interesting to see if Dubai's grand plans work 10-15 years down the road when all this construction is done, and Abu Dhabi is not backing it anymore. Will the increase in tourism offset the funding from Abu Dhabi? Unlikely, but if it does, there will certainly be a need for more ATC's for the increase in airplanes.

Hey AirNoServicesAustralia,
I will be joining AUH in the next 3 or so weeks. Don't think that there aren't people in SA who don't WANT to go, the local provider has started a contract a while back which is a tad prohibitive....so the CAN'T go... And don't think that the increase was so big - it wasn't. Against company regulations....

Hi!
Good reading here.
I just got a mail from Serco if I was still interested in Abu Dhabi.
So curious to see what they will offer me.
Must say I will think 2 times before I say yes to anything after all I heard about the company here on PPrune.
Final vectors

If you want to experience life in the "Bronx" and on your way to Abu Dhabi, make sure you ask to be accomodated in the Subaru building......
Just off to a neighbourhood watch meeting now, don't expect to return without being spat on by one of the taxi mafia who breed near the building!
Allowanc e Shmowance!

What is keeping you there
robbie d I believe that both Dubai and Abu Dhabi are looking for controllers. Bahrain too.
I was thinking of applying, but if it sounds so bad there, what is it that keeps people from leaving. Doesn't make sense to live away from your home country and be unhappy. Hell, i'll rather take the flak here that do it in a far away land.

People are leaving in droves (only 3 days left for me ) so they're constantly recruiting.
This is a great place to come on a busmans holiday for a year or so but having watched the value of the package plummet over the past few years, it's time to go. As long as you remember that work comes second and you will never be able to change things for better, then you can enjoy it here. The lifestyle is still fantastic for families and singles, you just won't be able to save much....... especially when you get all the speeding fines
