"Outsiders"
Hi there,
My first post here.
Several weeks ago I was invited to attend the first phase of the selection testing for the post of ATCO student.
First of all, I want to wish the best luck to everyone who's on the same boat...
Well, the fact is that I am Portuguese. I keep wondering if is normal to see non-english applicants taking the selection tests.
I am pretty sure that the majority of ATCO working at LACC are England nationals, but are there any "outsiders"
By the way, on the 27th July IŽll be trying my luck in Birmingham.
all the best

It all depends, I do know of a young lady of German origin who was an ATSA at NATS and went on to become an ATCO. She did an approach course with me at CATC and was last heard of working at Gatwick.
Good luck anyway.

Well if the majority are English nationals, then that means anyone who isn't english is an outsider - the Welsh, Irish, Scots etc etc.

Couldn't resist!
no offence meant!

Only 41% of the operational staff at Swanwick are English. The remainder are Scots/Welsh/Irish and others. In particular Scotland/Ireland have been excellent recruiting grounds over the years for high calibre staff.....in fact relevant unit management is almost all Scottish.
Good Luck

Hello Cheers,
I came over from Dutch ATC. Because I had prior experience I didn't have to go through all the interviews. Prior to that i've lived in the US, but wether that's a help on the language side....
