Does anyone remember my grandad?

His name was Alan Dixon, and we lost him to a heart attack last year. I'm led to believe he was instrumental in the computerisation of West Drayton in the early '70s.(no sarcastic comments required thank you notso)

If anyone remembers him and could post a few words I'm sure my mum would be appreciative.

Although I was around West Drayton at he time, and just starting to get involved with computers, I'm afraid the name does not ring any bells. Was your grandad an engineer or a controller?

A possible source of information could be the CAA Retired Staff Association -

Good luck with your quest.

I know a few of the people that were around for the original 9020 but I don't know anyone who worked on Hermes. I have sent a few e-mails to ask for you.

Thanks for the replys, sorry its taken me so long to get back to you but I didn't want to give duff gen.

He was sent to Atlantic City in 1972 as head of a team to research the 9020d for the CAA.

I think he was a controller but later on his role tended to be more as an adviser.

Any information gratefully received.

Thanks

ODR.

Have a wee bit more patience please. I've asked one of my colleagues who was on the 9020 team back in the late 70s if he has any recollection. He has the PPrune thread ID and may be able to respond on here.

Memories do last and a few more weeks are unlikely to make any real difference to information that might be available.

Good hunting.
