does anybody know what is the purpoese of that big green aircraft-shaped thing next to the Virging hangar on the Heathrow airport?

I believe its a facility for the fire crews to train on/in. A mockup aircraft...

I'm not an Heathrow ATCO, but think you might mean the Fire Training Rig - it looks a bit like a 747, but with an 'engine' on the tail - like a DC10

And let me guess, you'll be pilot in command?! And provide the ATC service. And provide the inflight entertainment (short flight so you should be ok...............just)
