ATC Medical Advice Please?

Hi peeps.

Ive got a reasonably complicated question, I've looked in all the CAP documents and checked with SRG-Medical and they dont seem to understand what I'm talking about. [aft-note - and after reading this I've confused myself! lol]

Ive got a class 1(CAA) & 2(JAA) medical.

(1) My first issue; I obtained these with NATS, but after checking with SRG - they only have the Class One registered on their official list. Anyone know who I contact to get this corrected? SRG reckon it isnt them I need to speak to. My current AME says he cant re-register it and the doctor that originally cert'd me has left for pastures new. *Sigh*.

(Q1) Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

(2) My second issue; I've got an ATCO(TWR) licence and a FISO licence and an A/G Licence.

(*) for my ATCO (twr) I need a class 2, but my class 1 superceeds this so I 'dont' need it.

(*) for my FISO I need a class 3, but my class 1(&2) superceeds this so I 'dont' need it.

(*) I'm about to [gulp] self-fund an approach procedural - my question; do I need a class one or class two to exercise the priveldges of this rating?

I rattled on so much, I've forgotten the original question.

Oh yeah!;

(Q2) What medicals do I need to have? From what I understand, and in light of all of the above, if I have a class one, that is all I require.

Thanks for listening. It looks like I picked the wrong week to give up sniffing glue.

Bri.

Q1 - If the CAA don't know then I don't know who will. If you see what I mean!

Q2 - You answered the question yourself. A class one is all you need. You need a CAA class one to do procedural control.

I have a class one medical (for ATCO APC and ADC) and also a class three for the FISO.
The reasoning being that if for any reason you fail class one standards, but can maintain a class two or three, you can still do ADC and/or FISO.

Hope that helps.

Note of Caution

Once carried out an ATCO validation board [practical]; prior to start I asked to check all documentation, unfortunately this candidate said that he kept the med. cert. in his pilots licence and did not have it with him.......read the small print....actually it is in BOLD....."subject to the inclusion of a valid medical certificate". If you use one med. cert. for a variety of purposes I suggest you use a high degree of discipline and make sure it is attached to the right document at the right time, otherwise the licence with which you are operating may be technically invalid.

Thanks for all your replies.

I always keep all my medicals in my CA1248 yellow book, I don't have a PPL so misplacing whichever medical I need wont be a problem.

With regards which medical, I'm beginning to understand it all now - might give SRG a call to enlighten them... teeheehee

To the letter of the law, all I need is my Class One, as it superceeds all. But as NikNak says [Cheers NikNak:] If, for whatever reason I suddenly fail my Class One, if I have a class two [of lower medical standards] I can still do ADC(vis), AFISO & A/G. Just cant do the other stuff - which I suppose is better than a kick in the teeth.

Thanks for everyone's help. I understand this matter, but if anyone has any more info/advice, please do keep posting.

Thanks!
