And the BIBLE says:

ICAO Annex 2; 3.2.2.7.3
An aircraft taxiing on the manoeuvring area shall stop and hold at all lighted stop bars and may proceed further when the lights are switched off.

It's not unknown for us to see a stop bar across the entrance to the minor taxiway where our aircraft and a separate flying club operate from. If it is red, contrary to an ATC clearance we ALWAYS query it.

Because it's my life, my licence.... and (to paraphrase Andie McDowell)... I'm worth it.

Aymen to you and your colleagues - it's almost always the case that your gang question the stopbar still being on, whereas Captain Important in his/her commercial air transport aircraft will cross them without comment (actually it's usually the blokes that do so, wimin, regardless of their aircraft type, almost always question the red bar, cos' they're programmed not to trust blokes - quite right too ).

Crossing Red STOP Bars - DON'T!

Red Stopbars are there to protect you and others, so please don't cross them. If I occasionally forget to suppress them, give me a verbal reminder.

If a conditional line up is given, the same applies. At my busy single runway in the SE, you will NEVER be given permission to cross a red stopbar guarding an active runway , unless there is an Ops vehicle in attendance protecting the runway.

Greens are good for you. Ask your mum!
