Inbound last night at about 2030 hrs. The ATIS was giving the usual plus "... non CDA approaches in opertion due to special flight in operation..." or words to that effect.
We were pulled of BIG and vectored, asked to expedite descent to 4000' and saw on TCAS traffic (one or two returns) at about 5000' and maybe 6000' just south of the centreline over the city.
Anyone able to let us know what was going on, or is it all hush-hush?

There are literally 1000's = nay Millions of Special Flights over the Capital!!
Ranging from G-MAPP photo details to a 1-11 from QinetiQ/Boscombe recently doing Thames flood plane recordings.
Seriously, are people bored enough to care about every aircraft over London not into LHR/LCY! None of which is at all interesting I can assure you.
