Defering Entry

Hello,

Firstly let me apologise for 'cluttering' up your forum with another wanabee question, however I have done a search and I think this is an original .

I have just completed my first year at university and have been looking at my options for what to do on complesion of the course in another 2 years. I have always wavered between going for my atpl or becoming an atco, however more recently the lean has been towards ATCO.

I have rung up the very nice lady at NATS who explained that the next course that I could be on is January 2005.

However my course won't finish until July 2005.

According to NATS website they run a course in July and October as well.

Therefore in a long round about way my question is - if I applied to NATS now and was succesful would I then be able to defer my entry to training until the October, or would I have to start in January. If this was the case when would I have to apply to receive an October start date?

Thank you very much for your time and responces...

Morning weegsltl

I can't see them wanting you to compromise your Uni course so you could start in the January so I don't reckon you'd have any problems.

Just tell them whe you're applying or when you get a bit further down the selection process.

After all, you may not make it and want to use your qualification to do something different.

If in doubt, ask them. I had to ask all sorts of daft questions when I was going through selection and felt like I was hassling them. Its their job to help you (I'm sure someone will disagree) and help me they did. The questions obviously weren't daft enough to prevent me getting through anyway as I've got a start next October.

Another point worth mentioning is that I started my application process in September 2002 and have not got a start until October 2004. That's 2 years!! So if you start applying now, you may not be on a course until October 2005 anyway!!

Get applying and Good Luck!!

Did a similar thing myself was accepted but deferred entry till then end of my Uni year, wasn't a problem. I believe though you must start, your course within one year of being offered the place or have to resit the whole selection process.

I got offered my place in July of this year and don't start until next October!!

I hope it won't turn out that I have to re-sit
