Hello!

I wonder what the requirements are to become a FAA pilot examiner. Is there a FAR that refers to it? Can any ppruner tell me what the certification procedure is?

Thanks,

The experience requirements are actually not that bad, 2000 PIC and 500 dual given for basic private pilot airplane. The tough part is getting the "call", the political part is the hardest and you need to get on well with the local FSDO.

The ASA CFI Test Prep book is the appropriate prep for the Flight Examiner written exams.

Slim slag hit it on the head. The politics of it is the hardest obstacle. Next is the need for an examiner in the area. Easy money say my friends who have been blessed by the feds, now if my application of a number of years ago would only land on the proper desk. You can always tell the ones trying to become one, they become ASC's and volunteer lots of time to put on seminars at FAA training events.
