With Effect from 0600L 10th July 2003 the Cardiff LARS frequency will change to 124.1

This has been subject to NOTAM action.

To confuse things further the frequency will be changing again within the next few months.

The reason for the change is to do with the new delegated airspace at Cardiff

Hi Flower,

So they have changed the frequency to the old Cardiff Directory frequency (if I remember correctly).

What new airspace at Cardiff is this then? I've been in Florida since last Thursday, won't be back until 3rd August. Wouldn't mind finding out before getting back to my home base...

Thanks in advance,

Charlie Zulu.

Hiya Charlie Zulu ,
hope your training is going well

Yep the frequencies have swapped around, this is because the airspace that Cardiff now controls extends upwards and outwards and 124.1 protected range is not as far as as 125.85.

The Cardiff zone itself remains unchanged it is the Airways that are delegated to Cardiff that have been extended.
We now have responsibility for A25 from 5 miles north of TALGA to overhead EXETER airfield upto FL165 , thats 80 miles of airway for the unitiated and then upto FL165 on G1 as well with the airspace boundaries remaining the same from AMMAN to ALVIN.in total about 150 miles worth of Airways
Bristol have also a chunk of delegated Airspace from ALVIN to MALBY upto FL95 which will assist with the Oxford Joiners.

So a major change for us at Cardiff, with the continued growth of BMI BABY and AIR Wales hopefully a happy future for the Principalities major airfield.

:ok:
