It has been 20 years since 33 Squadron reformed at RAAF Richmond on 1 July 1983. To celebrate the Squadron is inviting all past members to a dinner on 16 August 2003.

The Squadron operates four B707 in the air-to-air refuelling and transport roles. Only recently did it officially cease VIP operations on 27 May 03.

33 Squadron continues a proud tradition established during WWII when the unit flew transport missions to support troops on the ground in New Guinea. Last year, the Chief of the Air Force dedicated a plaque at the War Memorial in Canberra to honour those who served in 33 Squadron during the War.

In recent times the unit has conducted operations in Somalia, the Middle East and Afghanistan. Based in Kyrgyzstan for six months of 2002, 33 Squadron impressed it's Coalition partners with flexibility and dedication second-to-none. On returning to Australia, 33 Squadron was awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation for its excellent performance.

33 Squadron extends an invitation for dinner on 16 August 2003 to all past members. For details or to register contact Duncan Flemington (02) 4587 3306 (BH) or email [email protected]
